Black Wave, 2024
Created in connection with Jessica Lang’s ballet Black Wave for Pacific Northwest Ballet, this painting is part of Lang’s ongoing practice of creating an original artwork for each of her ballets.
Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi - the practice of repairing broken objects with gold - the painting reflects the ballet’s exploration of fracture, resilience, and transformation. Dark layers of teal and black are broken by passages of gold, allowing beauty to emerge through fracture and imperfection.
This fine art print is offered in a limited edition of only 25, each individually numbered and signed by Jessica Lang.
