The First Voice, 2026

Created in connection with Jessica Lang’s ballet The First Voice for The Royal Ballet School in 2026, this painting is part of Lang’s ongoing practice of creating an original artwork for each of her ballets.

 

Inspired by the poetry of Dame Ninette de Valois at the heart of the ballet, the painting explores the emotional and expressive qualities of voice, memory, and movement. Two richly layered panels come together through sweeping gestures and intersecting lines, while fiery reds and oranges, earthy greens and ochres, and flashes of yellow.

 

This fine art print is offered in a limited edition of only 25, each individually numbered and signed by Jessica Lang.
